I feel weird saying this but I have never had a professional facial in my life nor was I ever interested in getting one. My reason is because I never had problematic skin, from a teen all the way to adulthood. I never even experienced the teenage acne phase when most teenager were going through it.
My skincare routine was very simple, wash, tone and moisturize. I can basically use any product on my skin without worrying about breaking out.
But over the past 4 years, I am starting to see the signs of aging especially around and under my eye area. The dark circles, textured skin along with melasma was enough to convince me that book that appointment.
The Glowbar was recommended by my daughter and she even gifted me with a gift card for my first time. I went to the location on the upper eastside NYC. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment. The staff was friendly and immediately guided me to the sink to wash my face clean of any products. Shortly after my appointment time came and my Esthetician came and got me.

After a brief discussion regarding my skin concerns, my facial was customized to meet my needs. My major concerns are the dark circles, textured skin and melasma under my eyes, dry and aging skin.
She started out with a hydrating cleanser and proceeded with the following treatments:
Extractions, Hydrating Mask, Chemical Peel and Led Light Therapy.
Each step of the way she told me what she was doing and how it will benefit my skin, I appreciated that.
The entire session took 30 mins and was very relaxing. She also recommended a few products that I can include in my daily skincare routine that should help with my skin concerns.
Now that I have experienced my first professional facial, it will become part of my selfcare treat to myself each month.
